The problem with dual screens

Sunday, 14 January 2007 rant

I’ve had two seventeen inch screens for a while now and they’re really quite good for most desktop and gaming needs. The problem comes when you have a wide screen video, which accounts for most of them these days.

You either lose all the height or you split it across the displays (using VLC player) like this:

Dual screen

Everything would be good were it not for the massive gap between the screens wich got me thinking… Is there not a screen magnifier out there? Something that bolts onto the front of the screen and upsizes the video…

If you know anything like this, leave me a comment as I’d love to play around with a couple on my setup to improve video playback. Nothing says “screw HDTVs” like a 2560x1024px uberdisplay!
