@Jon
I don't put up with any of that shit... I still use windows, I just use Common Sense as my AV.

Indeed. I haven't had an antivirus in over 3 years, and also haven't had a virus either. Download and run an anti-virus and anti-malware once a year just to make sure and have never had issues. 95% of viruses are because the user made a stupid mistake.

Hi there, Well I thought I would just point out that I felt the results were not quite unexpected. These suites/av's have been the same for years now, infact some of those worst offenders have been getting fatter and fatter. Although the support and update sytems are top notch we found that the actual Detect/clean functionality was not. And pacing a higher pricetag than other Goodies like Nod32 or Kaspersky, wasnt really justified when running tests and finding that virus's and worms were able to intrude and disable undetected on the higher price tagged products, and detected on the lower ones..

Although most lower av's will be lighter due to less content/functionality. It is not always the case in functionality. Perhaps content is not as important as form, in the way of actually doing what its ment to be doing in the first place. Adding extra baby sitting functions to help dumb users from not infecting themself, Sure it has its uses (in 1 target audience)but this sort of functionality is what makes the programs so 'FAT' alongside the 'Content'. Whilst still keeping full funcitonality but More run on demand options, and stricter content is more efficient product. And if Nod32 and Kaspersky are able to do such a Great Job at it, Whats the bigger players excuse?

cheers,

Dh.

CNET referenced this article, and we're still sittin' at "avoid Norton, SpySweeper and McAfee"?? Now the free Ad-Aware provides real-time protection and I didn't need a program to tell me it was bogging me down. Free Zone Alarm must be a huge step up since it leapfrogged Windows 2000 and was pretty slow before that. AVG seems to conflict with everything so until I'm told otherwise, it's all Avira.

Glad my computer doesn't need any of that crappy antivirus, spyware garbage...
its a Mac, and sweet as a nut.
Why do you guys put up with all that sh*t?

Never had to worry about viruses on this Linux I'm using this moment, but then a BAD one hit. It snatched all my games that worked with Windows, forced me into a wretched text mode to compile and install the most basic apps, Belarc became some laughable smolt thingamajig that looks like it was written by a 4th grader and the only fix to this virus is a program called Wine, which is useless. *NEWS FLASH* Your little Unix boxes deprive a user of basic functions that even the worst virus cannot mimic. The sh*t we're dealing with is the half hour it takes to install the security programs. We'll try to cope.

Probably because of the desire to play games, or use a whole gigantic range of business software that doesn't exist on the Mac.
