I'm a PC Gaming fanboy! We're rare creatures but we have blogs =) Addressing the points, as you lay them out:
  1. Home is a MMO. You can call it a community if it makes you warm and fuzzy inside but it's still just an MMO. Having been addicted to one a couple of years ago, I've seen them for what they really all are: a big, fairly uncompelling waste of time.
  2. Wii sales might be dipping but that's because they've been on the market for so much longer.
  3. That was kind of my point. Your reason for switching to HD shouldn't be just the console, rather everything you use the screen for.
  4. You're right. Most racing games aren't strong in their storyline but there's usually a point to them. I can't see that, looking at MotorStorm
  5. Standard? Yeah if you say so. HD-DVD is still the most accessible format around at the moment both in terms of price (quite substantially), performance, quality and stock. We still have to see what happens there but my point is it's a complete unknown. You're investing a lot of money for the player, so be careful. I would say the same about any standalone player too.
  6. Singstar doesn't really seem to be pushing many boundaries in the karaoke world. I'm (thankfully) not part of it, so I'm not sure and not impressed enough to see it as a reason to blow that money.
  7. So nothing to do with legal issues at all? Bollocks. They could have got it working if they weren't going to get their pants sued off.
  8. "72% BACKWARD COMPATIBLITY IS MUCH BETTER THEN THE 360'S COMPATIBLITY"... Yes but US and JP PS3s get the emotionengine chip. We're paying more in Europe and getting less.
  9. Again, I'm happy to rip it out of ANY console FPS. I brought up Resistance because the article this whole entry is about did. Yes, Halo is crumby too.

If you want hyperlinks, I suggest you check out my other Sony posts. How Sony Screwed Up is one of my favourites =)

about the rumble in the controller, did u ever think that mabye it would be difficult to install a system that shakes the controller, when the six axis is all about movement. plus i dint think rumble was that great in the first place.

No rumble isn't the end of the world but it's not a technology issue. The Wiimote's tilt-switching is practically identical to the PS3's and has rumble.

There are also a lot of 3rd party controllers that have both. It's a licensing issue that Sony were too proud/miserly to get back in bed with the company that sued them over the Dual Shock controller.

I'm sure we'll see rumble come back at some point in the PS3's lifetime but they could have fixed it pre-release so when they do have the sudden change of heart, all the games ever made for it will support rumble.

Hi,

I hate to break it to the FF fans, but the maker of FF series [Hironobu Sakagutchi] left Square and started his own company, [Mistwalkers] and he also has the funding of Microsoft AND the musician that made the FF music possible [Nobuo Uematsu] is with him. The times are changing friends.

i own both systems alright sao before i begin dont call me a fan boy. i am going to compare the two consoles. the xbox has xbox live which has ALOT of demos and Alot of other content. Clearly xbox won this section but wait ps3 started a project called home. its a 3-d meeting place where you can watch trailers and download music, pics, video clips for others to see in your vitual apartment. ps3 games are hard to program, and developers havent figured the ps3 out yet. give ps3 some more time and more games will come out. hd-dvd is nice but blue-ray is nicer. i really dont watch movies on my systems, so i only care what the games look like. oh yes. one thig i hated about the xbox was that you had to buy the hd-dvd player seperate. i hated the ps3 price. i see the systems wit ha lot of untapped potenial. which system is better, only future will tell. i also like how the ps3 is quiet and doesnt overheat and kill itself like alot of xboxes do. if you are gonna make a list of reasons please back them up and i can see why everyone calls u a fanboy. instead of telling all the goodparts of xbox(live, more game, exclusives cheaper). and the bad parts of the ps3(high, little selection of games at time) tell people about the goods and bads of BOTH systems(xbox also overheats and dies, noisy,( ps3 goods, playstation home, if you dont know what it is google it, blueray player, quiet, doesnt overheat, supercomputer like features, oh yeah you complain about the rumble pack dissapearing, seriously its not that big a deal, i can shake my controller by myself, lol. and u said the backwards compatiblility is bad but 72% is way better than the xboxs. ok im not telling u to buy a ps3 and im not telling u buy a xbox. but please dont take advise from someone like this. look for someone who tells the benefits and drawbacks of both systems please, you people should be old enough to make your own decisions by looking at the goods AND bads of the systems. who this took a long time to type, lol but i wanted to make a point. thank you.

oy yes and for u people who dont know what your talking about home is NOT an MMO. it is just like xbox live ecept you do it in 3-d which is a good and cool if u ask me. theirs and arcade to play pool and stuff. a lobby for talking to people with a keyboad or headset. trophy room to show game achievmnets. an apartment to show off your personal life with pics andvideo clips and music which is displayed on a virtual t.v. picture frame in high def. video game designers can have their own rooms to show off their own games like a virtual e3 where u clan play demos and watch trailors. is alot like xbox live except it has a lot more potenial and use. so please top argueing thats it is an mmo, you dont go fight monsters or stuff like that you, thats like calling xbox l;ive an mmo except that it is a sucky one because it has no 3-d quality, imn am very tired of people just telling stuff they KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!please do sopme research before you give out false info.i dont care who you are, you know home has a lot of potential and will be awesome. dont try to be a fanboy and say it sucks because you like xbox. you dont see me saying xbox live sucks, i think live is a good idea too and x-box customer support it awesome, so please please quit it. and nomatter what i say someone will try to find a way to try to prove me wrong because thats what fanboys doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Thanks for writing gblingbling.

This really wasn't supposed to be a 'Why I hate the PS3' post. I was replying to the post at the Register. They gave a bunch of reasons that I found so laughably lame that I had to comment.

By all means the PS3 has its merits but I argue that the list of reasons above should be some of the last reasons you chose to buy a PS3. If these points were given to me as a reason to buy any console of the same price, my reply would have been the same.

On the console vs console topic I think it's probably still too early to tell. Both the xbox and PS3 sell extremely well but the Wii is still mopping the floor with them. A lot about their future uses and lifespans relies on the rest of the technology world. If Nintendo release a Wii2 with graphics and similar games to match/beat the other two, it could well be game over.

As it is, though, it will remain a 3-horse race for a while yet.

In my defence regarding Home, it was only announced a few days before the post on the Register. The explanation about what it was going to be was very vague so I ran with what I thought to be true at the time.

i see your point, its really hard to say which system is better right now because it ill take sone years. the wii in innovative but not a real big graphics system while the xbox and playtation are about equal in my opinion. at first i had a tough decision of which system to buy because all of the people who say that their systm is the best without even knowing what the other is. i like both xbox and ps3 alot, ive never tried the wii but i dont think i would like it very much because im more about graphics instead of innovation....for example i bout a nintendo ds because it was innovative and cheaper but i like shooter games like gta, splinter cell, rainbow six and ds didnt have those so i sold in and got a psp.....everyone says how xbox should give up or playstation would give up, what they dont realize is that if their werent competing systems we would not have the systems we have today....each system wants to be the best though they compete and getter better. for instance both ps3 and xbox 360 cost more to make than they sell for, this is good for us, bad for them lol.i hope it continues till we reach the point of ps16 and the xbox 3600. this is off subject but xbox is the only brand that hasnt stepped into portable gaming. u would think they would cause thats a valuable market, playstation realized how much nintendo made on it and tried to intervine and in my opinion did a pretty good job for their first handheld. psp, nintendoy ds, and maybe someday an x-boy, lol

Don't forget the PC so fast. A good PC can outstrip an xbox or a PS3 at any and every game they support. If one of the two graphics-consoles just evaporated overnight, you would still see the remainder trying to keep up with PCs -- something they just can't do because PCs are modular and the top-of-the-line hardware is replaced every 4 months by something even faster.

Hey if you like shooters so much, you should definitely be using a mouse to play.

I think Microsoft have stood back from the portable scene because they can't win in Japan -- the biggest portable gaming market in the world. They have such a tough time out there and understandably so: Sony and Nintendo know what jp gamers want. They've been developing jp-only games for decades and Microsoft just isn't at that level yet.

They may never be but I do like the sound of an X-Boy. Hmm that sounded quite dodgy. Nevermind.
