And yes, I know Opera is being wholly uncooperative at the moment. HTML is valid. CSS is valid. Opera is an invalid.
*sighs*

Well I've been along for the ride long enough now so I've seen this stuff evolve.
There's been some mixed responses around the office about this one; I quite like it and it gives me more of a clue than my latest design does...

It looks really good. I actually feel more comfortable reading narrower columns, ie. not having to move my eyes constantly from side to side. But that may be just me, and other than that I think it looks and feels great.

hthth I know exactly what you mean. I think I've still got some work to do balancing the font-size and the line-height because it is quite easy to get "lost" when reading across a long line. I'm tempted to bring it in 40-100px before I get too dependant on having 800px to play with.
I've also got to decide whether I continue the chunky-border theme (as seen on the comments) and port it to other page elements or ditch it. It's pretty inconsistent as is.

Looks good. The only thing I'd suggest changing is the font sizes in the footer. I can barely read them, not because of them being small, but they're getting badly pixelated/jaggy.
Screens in safari and firefox on osx:

Yeah I cranked that down because Steve's (Seopher's) entry in the "Latest Elsewhere" section was taking up two lines and making things look a mess. I'm looking into how to avoid that happening now so I can bring the size back up. I've got a lot of that sort of stuff to do around the site. =\

Curse you! With the forum gone, my signature isn't funny any more! Now I'll have to think up a new sig.
Seriously, though, bring back the forums if possible. I was hoping I could use them whenever I needed to pose technical questions to a smart crowd (even if said crowd is only you and maybe Seopher).
Cross me and be thagomized.

I'm not sure if it's staying that way or not. At the very least, it needed a thorough redesign and probably a couple of small changed in how it worked. I'll resurrect it when I can.

Looks great now, the footer is stylin now that it's legible.
